Asian Development Outlook 2003 Update
Despite significant economic shocks and a weaker recovery in the major industrial countries, the Asia and Pacific region remains a bright spot on the world economic map. In 2003, gross domestic product is forecast to grow by 5.3%. This is broadly in line with the Asian Development Outlook 2003 projection made in April this year, and is higher than in other regions in the world. For 2004, growth projections for Asia and the Pacific have been increased from those in the Asian Development Outlook 2003, on the back of both regional factors and a strengthening recovery in the major industrial countries.
