Asian Development Outlook 2008

Domestic Demand Driving Growth

Domestic demand is again likely to be the mainstay of economic growth in the next couple of years, given the expected weaker export markets in industrial countries and slowdown in most of Asia. Malaysia and ADB
Following the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s, Malaysia largely eschewed borrowing from multilateral assistance sources. One nonsovereign loan from the ADB was approved in 2007.
