The primary objective of the project is to provide microfinance through selected MFIs to Tsunami affected poor households as up-front capital to obtain pipe borne water and electrify their homes.The project will create a sustainable microfinance scheme to provide utilities to the poor. Implimentation of the scheme will be supported by training and public awareness programs to strengthen capacity of participating MFIs, the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Water Supply and Drainage Board.
