In Asian cities, rapid urbanization and the rising incomes are leading to a doubling of the motor fleet every 5-7 years. The uncontrolled growth in motorized traffic is resulting in a rapid growth in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The Accountability Mechanism provides a forum where people adversely affected by ADB-assisted projects can voice and seek solutions to their problems and report alleged noncompliance of ADB's operational policies and procedures.
